12-day Nepal tour featuring village homestays, Kathmandu heritage, Pokhara, and Chitwan wildlife safaris, supporting local communities through responsible tourism
A homestay tour in Nepal offers a unique opportunity to experience the country beyond the usual tourist trails. This 14-day journey takes you into some of Nepal’s most welcoming rural communities, where you will stay with local families, share home-cooked meals, and experience everyday village life firsthand. It is a meaningful way to connect with the people, culture, and traditions of Nepal while supporting local communities through responsible tourism.
Following the decade-long Maoist conflict from 1995 to 2006, many rural villages in Nepal faced major challenges as infrastructure was damaged and people migrated to cities in search of better opportunities. In response, the Government of Nepal introduced a rural tourism development policy in 2011, promoting homestay tourism as a way to revive local economies and preserve cultural heritage.
Since then, homestay tourism has played an important role in uplifting rural communities across Nepal. It has created employment opportunities, encouraged women’s entrepreneurship and empowerment, supported the preservation of local culture and traditions, and promoted the use of local products and resources. Today, many villages have transformed into inspiring examples of community-based tourism.
During this tour, you will visit some of Nepal’s pioneering homestay destinations and witness how tourism has positively impacted local lives. You will have the chance to immerse yourself in authentic cultural experiences, interact with local families, and learn about their traditions, lifestyle, and daily activities.
Along with the homestay experiences, the journey also includes sightseeing, nature walks, and wildlife adventures, giving you a well-rounded experience of Nepal’s diverse landscapes and cultures. The homestays selected for this tour are clean, comfortable, and operated by trained hosts who understand hospitality, hygiene, food preparation, and guest safety, ensuring a warm and enjoyable stay throughout your journey.
