Overview

Trek around the world's 8th highest peak, cross Larkya La Pass & explore the sacred Tsum Valley. Nepal's greatest off-the-beaten-path adventure.

Description

We invite you to embark on a breathtaking and culturally rich adventure through the Manaslu and Tsum Valley Trek. Nestled around Mount Manaslu, the world’s eighth-highest mountain (8,163m / 26,781ft), this trek offers a unique, off-the-beaten-path journey into Nepal's untouched Himalayas.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek, renowned for its serenity and rugged beauty, offers a less crowded alternative to more popular routes like Everest Base Camp and the Annapurna Circuit. It passes through diverse landscapes, from lush subtropical forests and terraced fields to high alpine terrain, culminating in the challenging Larkya La Pass (5,106m / 16,751ft). Along the way, trekkers immerse themselves in Tibetan-influenced culture, exploring ancient Buddhist monasteries, mani walls, and experiencing the unique traditions of local Gurung and Tibetan communities.

An optional detour, the Tsum Valley Trek, extends this adventure into a sacred Himalayan journey, known for its profound spiritual culture and ancient monasteries, remaining largely untouched by modern development. Combined, these treks can range from 22 to 26 days or more, offering an even deeper immersion into the region's natural and cultural heritage.

Due to its remote location bordering Tibet, the Manaslu region is a restricted area, requiring special permits and a mandatory licensed guide for groups of at least two trekkers. At Green Getaways, we specialize in sustainable and eco-friendly trekking practices, emphasizing low environmental impact, supporting local communities through initiatives like the Manaslu Conservation Area Project, and preserving the region's delicate balance of nature and culture. This challenging yet immensely rewarding trek is perfect for those seeking solitude, authentic cultural experiences, and unparalleled beauty.

At Green Getaways, we are dedicated to providing you with an unforgettable and responsible trekking experience through the majestic Himalayas of Nepal. When you choose us for your Manaslu and Tsum Valley Trek, you're not just booking a trip; you're investing in an adventure that prioritizes your safety, enhances your cultural understanding, and respects the pristine environment.

Here’s why Green Getaways is the ideal choice for your journey:

Commitment to Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Trekking

As our name suggests, Green Getaways is deeply committed to sustainable and eco-friendly tourism. The Manaslu region, including the Tsum Valley, is a protected conservation area. We actively support local communities through waste management initiatives, promote eco-friendly accommodations, and ensure our treks minimize environmental impact, helping to preserve the delicate ecosystem and cultural heritage for generations to come. By trekking with us, you contribute directly to the well-being of the region and its people.

Unparalleled Local Expertise and Personalized Service

Our team comprises highly experienced, licensed, and knowledgeable local guides, many of whom are from the Manaslu region itself. They possess a deep understanding of the terrain, weather patterns, and the rich local culture, including Tibetan Buddhism, which is prominent in these areas. Our guides are not just navigators; they are storytellers and cultural ambassadors, ready to enhance your journey with insights into local customs and traditions. We also offer flexible and customizable itineraries to perfectly match your timeframe, fitness level, and personal interests.

Hassle-Free Permit and Group Arrangements

The Manaslu and Tsum Valley regions are restricted areas, requiring special permits and a mandatory licensed guide. You must also trek in a group of at least two trekkers (excluding your guide). Green Getaways handles all the bureaucratic complexities of obtaining the Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (RAP), Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP), and Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) on your behalf, ensuring a smooth and legal trek. If you are a solo traveler, we can assist you in joining another small group.

Experience True Solitude and Authentic Culture

Unlike the busier trails of Everest and Annapurna, the Manaslu and Tsum Valley treks offer a more remote, serene, and less commercialized experience. You'll find yourself amidst untouched nature, encountering authentic village life with strong Tibetan-Buddhist influences, ancient monasteries, and traditional practices that remain largely preserved. The optional detour into the Tsum Valley offers an even deeper immersion into spiritual culture.

Prioritizing Your Safety and Well-being

We understand that the Manaslu Circuit is a challenging trek, ascending to high altitudes like Larkya La Pass (5,106m to 5,160m). Our carefully designed itineraries include essential acclimatization days, such as in Samagaun (3,530m) and Samdo (3,875m), utilizing the "hike high, sleep low" strategy to help your body adjust safely. Our guides are extensively trained in first aid and altitude sickness prevention, ensuring your safety throughout the journey. Comprehensive travel insurance, including helicopter rescue, is mandatory for all our trekkers for peace of mind.

Tailored for You, Trusted by Adventurers

At Green Getaways, we believe every trekker is unique. That’s why we offer personalized, flexible options to make your journey unforgettable.

Customizable Itineraries: Whether you want to linger by the Samagaun for cultural immersion or engage in nature photography, our itineraries can be tailored to your interests, fitness level, and schedule. We craft each journey to match your pace and preferences.

Flexible Booking Options: Plan with confidence, book for 2026 or 2027, or take advantage of our flexible cancellation policies. Partial bookings are also available for those still finalizing their plans.

24/7 Support: From the moment you land in Kathmandu to your final departure, our team is available around the clock. Our guides and customer service staff are always ready to answer questions and ensure your comfort.

Private Trekking Options: Prefer a more private experience? Our private treks let you explore at your own pace, ensuring a personalized adventure without joining the groups.

Comfortable and Comprehensive Package Inclusions

Our packages are designed to provide a seamless experience, including:

    ◦ All necessary permits (Manaslu RAP, MCAP, ACAP).

    ◦ Experienced English-speaking guides and hardworking porters (one porter for every two trekkers, if opted for).

    ◦ Accommodation in well-selected teahouses/lodges along the route, offering basic yet comfortable rooms, with many offering private bathrooms and hot showers where available.

    ◦ Nutritious meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) during the trek, often allowing you to choose from the menu.

    ◦ All required transportation from Kathmandu to the trailhead and back.

    ◦ Complimentary use of essential gear like sleeping bags and down jackets, along with a duffle bag.

Optimal Trekking Seasons

We recommend undertaking the Manaslu and Tsum Valley trek during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. These periods offer mild temperatures, clear skies, and spectacular panoramic views of Mount Manaslu and other Himalayan giants. Spring brings blooming rhododendrons and vibrant landscapes, while autumn offers stable, dry weather and festive seasons.

Choose Green Getaways for a mindful, secure, and deeply enriching journey through the heart of the Himalayas. We are here to transform your trekking dreams into a beautiful reality.

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, a Green Getaways representative will warmly welcome you with a personalized sign and assist you with a comfortable transfer to your hotel in the city. You will travel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle, ensuring a relaxed and hassle-free start to your journey.

In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner hosted by Green Getaways, where you’ll be introduced to Nepalese hospitality through traditional music and cultural dance performances. This first day is all about rest and recovery from your flight while soaking in the local ambiance.

If you wish, you may explore Kathmandu’s bustling streets—from the vibrant alleys of Thamel to nearby Durbar Square—at your leisure. Please note that no official guide services are provided on this day, but our team is available by phone for any assistance or recommendations should you wish to go sightseeing or dine out independently.

Take the time to relax, organize your luggage, and prepare for the days ahead in the mountains.
